Happy Birthday Ricci!!!!

Happy Birthday to my friend, Ricci! I think all of you that know her would agree with me that she is one of the most kind, generous, loving people that you could know. She is humble and doesn't like a lot of attention, but she faithfully serves wherever she's needed without complaining, even though a lot of times nobody every knows the extent of her service. She loves the Lord and is quick to proclaim His grace in her life. She is always there to help and she loves my family, especially my girls!
We love you Ricci! Happy Birthday!

Recipe and Idea

Here is a great recipe for burritos. The best part about them is that you can make them and freeze them all individually so you always have something yummy for lunch!

Wii be fit!

We had some family time Saturday night playing with our new Wii Fit. Poor Dad still has his broken ankle so he had to sit and do a little fishing.
It's pretty fun except that I looked like I was having seizures the whole time I was trying to Hula Hoop!

Fun Day!

My sister, Jen and my nephew, Sawyer are up visiting us right now. We had a nice day relaxing with the fam, doing some shopping, wrestling Daddy, then worshiping together at the Scott Krippayne concert at church. (With a little Aaron Peterson thrown in!)

Swimming Fun!

From Monergism

Author of The Shack denies penal substitutionary atonement
Here is an MP# interview online where the author of the Shack flat out denies that the penal substitutionary nature of the atonement. This interview sheds the most definitive light on what William Young, author of The Shack, really believes about several things, including the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross, which Young denies. He also says in the interview that it is absolutely possible that all men will be saved. http://rock-life.com/files/shakcomp.mp3

This is no reformed distinctive folks ... but is foundational to the heart of the gospel.

Random Thoughts

I don't know why, but lately I haven't seemed to be able to have clear enough thoughts to publish a whole post. So, I guess you get some random thoughts from me tonight!
Right now I am sitting in a hotel room in Oregon. We came down for a Pastor's conference. We have decided that traveling with a one year old was not such a good idea. She has slept very little! Actually, Rylie hasn't slept a whole lot either, but at least she's quiet about it! Her high point was today when her and Daddy went swimming in the hotel pool (pictures to come later).
Ryan was elected to the IFCA Regional Vice President! He was also asked to consider speaking for one of the sessions at the next conference. I'm very proud of him! (Don't worry Dad, I'm proud of you too for all the work you've done for the regional and the IFCA!) This was a position that he was nominated for by another Pastor and the other pastors voted between him and another gentleman.
I have spent a lot of time here in the hotel to try to get the girls to sleep so I haven't made it to much of the conference, but I did get a nap today and was able to finish two books I've been reading!
If you think of it, please pray for me in the morning, I am speaking on a panel with two other ladies (one being Judi A.) and I'm not having a lot of clarity in my thoughts about my topic. I'm also a little nervous on how we'll do getting the girls up earlier than normal in the morning when they haven't had a lot of sleep. Please pray that they sleep through the night tonight! Thank you!

I have subcumbed to peer pressure!

I have had a twitter account for about six months but I haven't done anything with it. Today I decided to get on the bandwagon and get it all set up. I don't know who in the world will want to follow my microblogging, but I'm putting it out there. On the right sidebar are my twitter updates if you're interested. And if you're on twitter, let me know so I can follow you!

2 to 3 pounds cube steak (tenderized round steak that’s been extra-tenderized
1 large onion OR 2 small/medium onions
4 French/Deli rolls
Butter, man
Lawry’s Seasoned Salt

-Slice onions and cook in 1/4 stick butter until soft and light brown. Remove and set aside.
-Slice cube steak against the grain. Season with Lawry’s.
-Heat 2 TBSP butter over high heat (in same skillet) until melted and beginning to brown.
-Add meat in single layer. Cook one side until brown, then flip and cook until brown, about a minute on both sides.
-Add 1/2 (at least) Worcestershire sauce, 5 to 6 shakes Tabasco, and 2 TBSP butter. Add cooked onions. Stir to combine.
-Butter halved French rolls and brown on skillet.
-To assemble, lay bottom half of French roll on plate. Place meat mixture, followed by a spoonfull of juice from the pan. Top with other half of roll, cut in half, and devour!

I found this recipe on the Pioneer Woman the other day and made it for dinner Monday night. Very good, not low fat! If you go to her site she has step by step pictures for reference. Enjoy!

If You Give a Mom a Muffin

If You Give A Mom A Muffin

Original Author Unknown

If you give a mom a muffin,
She'll want a cup of coffee to go with it.
She'll pour herself some.
Her three-year-old will spill the coffee.
She'll wipe it up.
Wiping the floor, she'll find dirty socks.
She'll remember she has to do laundry.
When she puts the laundry in the washer,
She'll trip over boots and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan for supper.
She will get out a pound of hamburger.
She'll look for her cookbook ("101 Things To Do With a Pound of Hamburger").
The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill, which is due tomorrow.
She will look for her checkbook.
The check book is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two-year-old.
She'll smell something funny.
She'll change the two year old's diaper.
While she is changing the diaper, the phone will ring.
Her five-year-old will answer and hang up.
She'll remember she wants to phone a friend for coffee.
Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup.
And chances are...
If she has a cup of coffee,
Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it.

Rylie's Horse Birthday Party

Rylie said this was her "best birthday party ever!" She had such a good time, it was worth freezing in the barn! We had BBQ, strawberry cake, horse rides, and presents, what more could a four year old little girl ask for?!
The post below has the link to all 172 pictures if you want to see all the fun!

Dr. appointments and other such things. . .

As you can see, the girls are starting to feel better, unfortunately, Ryan and I aren't. Being such generous children, they shared their germs with us!
The girls both had their Doctor appointments today. Rylie is average for weight and a little below average for height. She was 34lbs and 38 in. Her Dr. said that she was very healthy and right on track! She even had a blood draw and a shot and didn't cry. We were very proud of her.
Anna Banana has an ear infection, and has started on antibiotics, so hopefully she'll be all better soon. She has hardly eaten anything in the past two weeks since she has been so sick, so ended up losing 6 ounces, which was a lot for her. It was visible on her. She is now in the 5% for weight at 17 lbs and 75% for height at 30 in. Our tall, skinny girl! The doctor wants her to come back in a few weeks for another weight check and to have her vaccines.
We have a possible lead on a used car for me. It will be so nice to have a car again. It will be much easier to do things like grocery shopping, Starbucks runs. . . I am thankful that we have that option to have a second car, it is a blessing.
Right now, I am going to enjoy snuggling with a beautiful four year old and watch the Little Bear movie! Look for Rylie's Birthday party pictures tomorrow night!

Rylie's Birthday

We had such a fun day today for Rylie's 4th Birthday! We started the day off by waking her up singing Happy Birthday to her, which she loved (she told me later that that was her favorite present). When she got out of bed she stood up tall and showed us how much bigger she was already! It was really cute!
Then we had a Mommy-Rylie day at the Mall (Anna got to spend the day with Grandma, as Rylie was in need of some one on one time). Becky was also able to join us for a little bit. Rylie got to pick out some candy at the candy store and the cashier gave her a free cotton candy for her birthday. As you can see from the pictures, she thoroughly enjoyed it! Then we set out to do some clothes shopping for her and Anna with their Birthday money. We found some cute things for them and Rylie also got to pick out a special ball that she had been wanting.
After we wore ourselves out in the play area we had a nice lunch together. That was followed by some coffee for Mommy and a (free!) blueberry steamer for Rylie. She felt like quite the big girl!
After naps, we picked up Daddy from work and went out for Rylie's choice of evening plans. She asked that we go to Fatburger and to see the movie, Bolt at the theater. When we left the theater she told us, "that was a great movie!"
She really enjoyed the special phone calls, and messages she got throughout the day. I think she felt really special today, goal accomplished!
Saturday we are having her family birthday party at Grandpa Jim's. She is having a horse party in the barn, surrounded by real horses! She is beyond excited for this! Pictures will be coming!
