My (not so) fun day

I was planning on having a fun day today. The girls and I were on our way to meet our good friend Sarah and her son, Henry for a play date, when the unexpected happened.
I stopped at the stop sign a block away from my house to get ready to turn left. I couldn't see if any oncoming cars were coming because the people that live on the intersecting street had their cars parked in such a way that it blocked my view. I decided to creep forward to get a better view. That's when I discovered in a not so fun way, that there was indeed another car coming. I think you can figure out the rest of the story!
My poor Rylie girl was scared and kept crying and complaining that her neck was really hurting, so the EMT's (that came when we called the police) put a collar on her and advised us to take her to the ER for X-rays to make sure something more serious wasn't wrong. They advised us to have Anna checked out as well, even though she was her happy self and seemed fine.
After spending almost three hours in the "hopstible" (as Rylie calls it), and x-rays (which Rylie thought were cool), we were discharged with a clean bill of health.
Anna thought the whole event was a party and quite enjoyed every minute of it (that is until nap time). My parents came to the hospital to check on the girls and as soon as Anna saw them, she yelled out, "Hi!"
Rylie did not enjoy wearing the collar for three hours, she was pretty uncomfortable, but was such a trooper. Uncle Matt and one of his employees came by and made her a glove balloon, that helped cheer her up.
I'm very thankful that we have insurance, and car seats and that the police didn't cite me, and that the girls are safe. Please pray that we can figure out how to afford all of this. The insurance adjuster is coming in the morning to see if the car is totaled or not.
My neck, back, and shoulders keep hurting worse as the evening wears on, but my good friend (and almost neighbor), Michelle brought me over some dinner, so that helped!
Rylie got to keep her collar, which she was excited about because she loves to play doctor. As you can see, she fixed up her dog!

SOOOO sorry Amy! I know that after my accident 2 years ago the kkids are still a bit jumpy. They always tell me when cars are coming now. :) I'm glad you had your camera!

Things will work out! LOVE YOU

Oh my gosh, that's terrible, but I'm so glad you are all okay. What a huge bummer :(

Be sure to mention the cost of new car seats to the insurance adjuster, and maybe they will help pay for new ones. (At least, I've always read that you have to get new ones after a car seat has been in a car accident...)

Hugs!

I am so glad you are all ok! What a scary ordeal. Keegan says hospital just like Rylie does :) Yes, you will have to get new carseats. They are not considered safe or useable after they have been in any kind of accident (even a fender bender). Most insurance companies will pay for new ones. Take it easy and rest. We hope to see you this weekend. We missed you tonight!

I hope you're not feeling too sore today. Please call me if you need anything!! I was scared driving home last night- I already hated those intersections, now I hate them even more! Also, I wanted to mention about the carseats, to not be surprised if your car insurance won't cover them. When our van was smashed I asked about them, and the insurance guy said that we would only be reimbursed for the car, not our personal property inside it. He said that would have to be under our renter's insurance! So, just a head's up. Oh! I just remembered that we have a spare carseat (like Rylie's) that you could borrow for a little bit if you need it. It's at Bob & Judi's house right now. Let me know if you need it!

Oh my!! I am so glad you guys are ok! I know the intersections there are sooo scary, I stop at the intersections with no stop signs. I hope everything works out with the insurance and car seats. And I especially hope your neck and back feek better soon, it is so common in car accidents to feel worse later in the day or even the next day after the accident. When I was rear ended, i felt fine but ended up making cris leave his EMT class to take me to the ER that night for my neck. Not fun!

I'm so glad to hear that you all are OK. When we got in our accident they replaced Michael's car set. They said that it was unsafe after an accident and I think Marci's Insurance did the same thing.

Actually, that car seat of Michelle and Dave's is in my car and I'll be at Robinson's tonight - or I can put it in the van and Judi can take it to the church tomorrow. Just let Judi know if you need it and we'll get it to you somehow. Glad to know that no one was hurt, only shaken. You know, there might be a law against parking too close to an intersection - obstruction of view or something like that.

Wow!! So glad you guys are alright. Is that what happens when your husband preaches a great message on Suffering the Sunday night before???? You guys are in our prayers. I'll get back to you about the b-day party. My mom will be in town. Thank you so much for inviting us. I'll let Kate know.
